As a brown guy, I think more of us need to acknowledge this and actively work to break the intergenerational cycles and step outside the comfort of cultural expectations that have made too many of us complacent. Because that complacency doesn’t just harm brown women (though disproportionately, yes) — it limits us too, and the kinds of relationships we’re able to build, where both can really thrive.
